Shade Sails

Shade2measure Supplying Shade Sails throughout Australia

A shade sail is any type of tensioned fabric stretched between structures, posts, columns or buildings that provides cover and protection from the elements.

Shade sails are an ideal solution because they can be custom designed and installed to cover most types of residential or commercial outdoor areas - there is no minimum size! Common uses for shade sails include:
  • decks and patios
  • swimming pools
  • entryways
  • BBQ and eating areas
  • car parking and car ports
  • playgrounds
  • kindergartens and daycare centres

Shade Sails vs Patio Awnings

Shade sails are superior to the more traditional sun covers such as patio awnings because shade sails:
  • can be left up in windy conditions
  • soften the look of the building
  • add a stylish and architectural look
  • are cheaper than awnings
  • don't require planning (unlike fixed awnings)
  • can be professionally installed or DIY
The sails' sweeping curves, beautiful design, artistic visual impact can blend in with any surrounding structure or landscape.

Materials and Construction

Shade sails are made from a high-strength cloth known as a high-density polyethylene knit. Sewn into all edges of the sail is reinforcement webbing which is stitched 3 times for added strength. At each corner, PVC patches are added for strength.

The shade sail cloth is anchored to the structure, posts or your building using stainless steel D shackle-and-turn buckles. All shade sail fittings are are 316 marine grade stainless steel; 316 is top-grade yachting stainless that doesn't rust.

The combination of high quality fabric, sturdy construction, and high quality steel ensure that Shade2measure's shade sails are strong and durable to withstand Australia's harsh climate.

Ultraviolet (UV) Protection

The shade cloth provides an ultraviolet (UV) sunlight protection factor between 86% to 96% depending on your chosen colour. Not only will the shade cloth protect you and your family from the harsh UV light, it will last for years in the full strength direct sun.
